Dr. Peter Hackett Honored

Dr. Hackett is the recipient of the prestigious David A. Sowles Memorial Award, granted through the American Alpine Club. The honor is given to mountaineers who distinguish themselves, with unselfish devotion at personal risk or sacrifice for a major objective, and in going the assistance of fellow climbers imperiled in the mountains.

Peter is AMS' Medical Director and co-author of our Backcountry Medical Protocols. He is a world authority on high-altitude medicine and physiology and has contributed much of his life to understanding altitude-related illnesses.
