Muldrow Centennial Climb - The Cache is in Kantishna

We are really excited to be working with this group of climbers. The logistics for a north side attempt on Denali are prodigious. On Sunday, after spending a few days building 16 boxes, Guide Joey McBrayer loaded the boxes onto a ski-equipped plane bound for Kantishna.

Kantishna was the site of a gold rush of sorts in 1903. Today, the historic mine sites remain, but there is no active mining there. However,  four lodges reside in the area that are open to guests during the summer months only. It is within Denali National Park and Preserve.

A quick drop off of the boxes on the south end of the airstrip and the plane took off back to Talkeetna. It was a beautiful day to fly across the Alaska Range.

The cache will stay here for a couple more days until the dog musher and dog team arrive to ferry this 1200 pounds of gear to McGonagall Pass...about 30 miles away.
