AMS guide Larry Holmgren called in last night. They were camped at the top of the "Great Icefall" on the Kahiltna Glacier. They have been having a good time climbing and learning skills in and around Kahiltna Basecamp (the same base camp that all of the Denali climbers use).
They climbed a peak at base camp called "Control Tower" peak. It is a 1/2 day climb that consists of some route finding through a smaller ice fall (essentially a series of crevasses) and some steep snow climbing and a really cool ridge traverse, with some incredible views, to the summit.

Here is a view of the North face of Mt Hunter as seen from Control Tower peak.

Larry said that they are having nice temps, not too cold. They are planning on traveling through the Great Icefall this morning and setting up a camp at the base of a peak called Mount Soderstrom. If the conditions are good they'll try to climb Mt. Soderstrom, which I believe to be the second ascent and then continue on their way traversing to the Pika Glacier (AKA Little Switzerland).
They are having a great time and are seeing some of the most beautiful areas of Denali National Park that seldom people get to see from the Glacier.
