Denali West Buttress - 4/27, Dan Corn

AMS guide Dan Corn called in a bit ago with an update.

First of all he said that the weather is perfect!!!  "If any teams are poised for a summit attempt, they would certainly be going for it right now".

Dan and his team made a carry to the top of the fixed lines yesterday.  They are taking a rest day today and hoping to move up the High Camp tomorrow assuming that the weather stays like it is today.

Here a group ascends the fixed lines on the way to High Camp  on Denali.
If you zoom in on the photo, you'll notice that one climber is kneeling down.  He or she is transitioning their tether and mechanical rope ascender from the top of one of the sections of fixed line to the start of the next section of fixed line.

The top of the fixed lines is 16,200'.  From 16,200' to 17,200' is often described as the most beautiful part of the West Buttress route.  That may be true, but the entire route is pretty darn nice.
